Hi,

I've recently built and rendered a breeze-clock wall and am now about to finish it off with coping stones. I've bought some rough grey stones and would like to know how I can get a similar colour mortar for between the stones.

I've browsed the net for cement dye but can't seem to find what I'm after and the comments on here suggest it may not be suitable either. So can I mix my own just by using certain types of sand and cement? Would a higher ration of cement help? I've also read that adding lime may help?

So if anyone can suggest a recipe for grey mortar I'd be extremely grateful!

Thanks in advance.

K-Rod.

Thanks for the reply ajstoneservices.

Can you advise on the ratios of lime/cement/sand please? Would it be a specific type of sand?

1 lime 1 opc 6 washed sand ash to colour. you will need to test a few mixes to get the colour you want.
