just started an extension with imperial bricks and metric blocks, 6 course of imp bricks = 525mm, and weve put the ties in every 6, works out every 7 on the blockwork, so were doing 2 blocks then 1 coursing brick to make it work, i think it will be alright but mate not so sure, building control coming round wednesday for a nose, just don't want to build another load of work and he says its wrong or something, will this be o.k?

Should be no problems with that as long as the courseing blocks are the same as the blocks you are useing. And if you do bend ties only bend them downwards.

it normally works 6 courses of bricks then 5 courses then 6 courses then 5 courses and so on.

that sounds o.k, how do you go on at the reveals, can't think how that will work, is it still every 3 course coz if it is it won't work!

A course out on the reveals wont hurt.

Don't mess about putting coursing blocks in. Build the blockwork first and put the ties in as normal, then stretch them to the nearest brick course.

Too late now, but you can get some helical ties to knock in the [aerated] blockwork wherever you like
