Hi

I have an upstairs double glazed unit where the internal pane has cracked the entire width

I'm led to believe this is relatively common and something to do with expansion

My insurance company tell this is wear and tear and not covered - (I was waiting to hear if in fact it was the wrong sort of glass!)

So, can anyone confirm if it is 'normal' and what insurance companies typically do please?

how old are the windows are they still undersome sort of guarentee!!!

a new glass unit of around 400mm square is likly to cost around £60 with you fitting it

2 years old

Does that come under a guarantee?

I was more worried that its part of a much larger window and that I'd need to replace the whole thing?

only you will kmow that when you read the gaurentee :D ;)

then of course theres "fit for purpose" which says a product should last a reasonable time and 2 years in my eyes is not

It's certainly not wear and tear. Glass does not break due to wear and tear.

If glass breakage is covered by the policy then they should pay out.

There are several possible reasons for this breaking, none of which are wear and tear.
