spacing for decking

A lot depends on the moisture content of the boards when you lay them. A wet board layed now will shrink considerably during the summer.

I would be inclinded to leave 3mm if the boards have a high moisture content, less if they have been stored a while and are dry.

NB - I'm not a decking expert, just my personal experience of laying 3 decks.

Between 5mm - 10mm is the usual spacing.

But then as already said it depends on the type of board you have. Some will shrink and expand much more that others.

It will also depend on whether thay are still wet from weatherproofing when being laid.
