I bought a house two years ago and my next door neighbour has decided to remove their chimney breasts (leaving the stack) and supporting it in the loft via a gallow bracket.

now it got me looking at my loft and breast...

(now nothing was mentioned on the report regarding this)

now i know i have no rsj or gallow brackets but am i right in thinking this was some kind of support they use to do back in the old days with corbelled bricks??

my breast in the loft is as above, my neighbour wants to remove the opposite side on their side (with gallow brackets)

is there any likelyhood it could/would affect the right side of the (technically) unsupported breast?

if after/during the work of my neighbour it affects my breast is he/his workmen liable? according to the party wall agreement?

thanks
