I'm going to look at a pointing job on friday as work is thin on the ground (normally just say no as i hate the job but needs must) what is the going rate for raking out and repointing(£ per M2)???? do you charge extra on top for scaffold, discs etc

I am not certain of current rates but £10/m seems a good starting point.

If you can't work out a rate, then price it on how long you will be there, and it its going to take you say, 5 days, then you want 5 days money.

Obviously, hardish joints, bricks that chip easy, the joint finish will all determine how hard the job is.

Scaffold is extra, as is materials and disks. But you may have to compromise - without working for nothing though

Also, don't forget that changing perished/chipped/cracked bricks is also chargeable.

What you can offer that the other guy can't may be the selling point, so make sure to stress the benefits ;)

And check the gutters and fascias while you are there, and anything else that may need doing.

many thanks for that woody

strangely enough i got offered another repointing job today, so i hope i price the 1st one right as i'll be pricing both this weekend

£20 m2 is around the current rate with bucket handle finish.
£26 weather struck and cut.
Tuck pointing name your own price.

No problem NS215.
The problem with pricing pointing jobs when you don't normally touch them is that is hard to compete with some one who specialises in it.
Because they often pump it in now the job can be done much quicker.
When some one like me turns up with a plugging chisel and a pointing towel and hawk the jobs going to take a lot longer.
