I am knocking out below an existing edwardian sash window opening in order to install french doors. I have seen some off the shelf doors for a knockdown price, but the frame is about 1 1/2" wider than the outer brick opening. My question is, can the frame be fixed to the inner brick opening, (which is actually wider than the outer brick layer) to avoid having to re-lay the outer opening? I have checked that the doors will still open outward freely, and will not be obstructed by the outer brick opening.

I already posted this in the building forum, but then realised there was a doors and windows forum! Sorry. I'd appreciate anyone's help.
