We are having some building work, through an insurance company.

The garage parapet wall at the side and front were finished off yesterday. The bricklayer said the roofer would be coming today.

He woke me to tell me his was arriving, which was a bit of a shock, considering we have just had our first snow of winter.

I know it's only flashings, but can felting be done in the snow.

he said he would brush off the snow, then dry the existing roof and I suppose the brickwork with his gas torch.

Won't he cold weather (3 degree maximum today) make the felt brittle before the bitumen sets properly ?

ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

they use huge torches that make a right racket but are very effective.

once dry it will be both warm and receptive.

ooer misses!

Its not a nice way to work, but once dried out, you'd be surprised how fast the torch warms the surrounding areas.

Its worse when you're melting ice off a roof, look behind you and see its refrozen.....its time to go home then.

They have finished now.

The roofer did seem to be very conscientious and has done a lovely job.

You can see he's a good tradesman

Well done Les ! from Middlesbrough
