my lovely girlfriend bought a replacement screen mounting base for her tom tom , unfortunately it was not the normal suction base but an adhesive type. she of course peeled off the backing paper and stuck it on the screen . she now wants to remove it, but it is stuck fast. does any one know how i can remove it without cracking the window screen. help please Michael

michael - consider using a snap-off bladed craft knife. Extend the blade as far as it will go (maybe 75mm) and you'll find it is very flexible. Use this flexy blade to cut across the middle of the adhesive pad holding the mount on the screen. Do this gently so as not to snap the blade and cut yourself, and not to scratch the screen. Once off, use some lighter fluid (the liquid type) and a rag to remove the glue residue from the screen. Avoid dripping the fluid onto the dashboard.

Lighter fluid is great stuff to have around the house for cleaning purposes as well as removing glue residue from labels, etc.

LOL - definitely a blond moment

A Hair dryer should deal with this, it will heat the adhesive till it becomes tacky. Thats what garages use to remove unwanted stickers from windscreens and back windows.
