damp corners

two damp corners on new extension, concrete floor. Tried digging out soil and replacing this with pea shingle around corners to improve drainage and dry wall and floor out. Now pea shingle wet and floor damper, is the pea shingle drawing more water out of soil and wetting wall more?.

Whats the answer ? concrete round edges with DPM against wall?

leaky pipes.

pea gravel will not wick damp but will hold some moisture.

a correctly built cavity wall, including dpm and dpc, will dry out. it has to.

No leaking pipes, water is coming in from outside Im sure, does this mean a gap between DPC and DPM and how can it be rectified?. Will building control stop the sign off because of it.

even if there were a prevelance of water outside the building, and, if it were built correctly, then that water can not effect the inside.

did the builder leave the cavity fill concrete 225mm below dpc?

was there a dpm fitted and turned onto the dpc?

i presume it is cavity wall construction?

yes its cavity wall
Builder states he did everything right
screed
concrete
dpm
insulation
rubble

obviously I cant guarantee that it was all sealed properly

He states its due to all the wet earth outside, and thats why he dug out the soil and put in the shingle.

next step?

If you have got water penetration on a new build, then the builder did not do "everything right", and no amount of messing around on the outside will stop it.

You have to find what is wrong with the DPM and fix it
