washing machine hot shut down

I have a kitchenaid clothes washer that barely agitates and the plug wires get warm.The machine makes the lights in the house fliker and the machine will stop working and requires an hour or longer to begin working again.
culd this be a brush problem? any help is appreciated.

Motor overload maybe, perhaps caused by a partially siezed bearing?? Not sure how the brushes would be at fault.

Is it possible to rotate the motor by hand without any power applied? It should spin fairly easily.

thank you for the reply.The motor does spin fairly easy by hand from the bottom of the agitator.This machine has been doing this for a few weeks now.
