Brick wall in kitchen

Hi,

I'm wanting to build a small brick wall in my kitchen (1500mm width x 1100mm height). It will be used support a kitchen worktop.

I'll be putting a batten on the wall, the worktop being attached to that, then put legs on the other side of the worktop. The washing machine will go underneath this (also a bit more space to stash junk!)

Does anyone know if this wall can be half brick width? Or full?
