I have a problem in my property, at the back a previous numpty has built a raised patio at the level of the internal floor covering an air brick in the process which has lead to a small amount of damp appearing in the area. Its probably 2-3ft above where next doors patio is.

My thinking is remove the patio, dig out the floor back to the correct level and install the decking at the height of the current patio, spacing it off the walls etc.

I was intending on using treated fence posts to attach the bearers too, purely as I already have a large quantity.

People seem to suggest 150x50mm is the correct size timber to use, can this not be reduced at all to say 100x50mm

The total deck size would be 4mx3m

I could be way off the mark with the damp solution, however its only this one wall thats affected and the guttering etc has all been replaced by me.

your decking should slope slightly away from the house
you should use washers or spacers to give you a 12mm gap for the frame and decking

4x2" treated attached to the house with 5" bolts shoud be fine
