Can i get local fire station to test my alarm system??

Hi

Someone told me recently that local fire station check fire systems for free?

I was wondering if anyone could clarify this and if not, if anyone knows of someone around berkshire area to get it tested and sorted.

What alarm system?

If you mean a fire alarm system then your unlikely to get it checked for free.

You would most likely need a local fire (possibly security) alarm company to check it out & certify it working correctly.

They Lied.

A fire alarm should be maintained / checked by a fire alarm company.

A smoke detector should be tested acording to the makers instructions.

The person who told you the firs station will check a fire alarm for free has probably missunderstood something he / she heard.

Most, not all fire services are fitting a smoke alarm for free for people who qualify for such things, such as OAP's, infirm people etc.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "fire alarm system"?
Is it a few linked together smoke detectors as you'd find in a domestic dwelling or is it a full fire alarm with sounders, call points and automatic detection as found in commercial and industrial premises?
