people are going around the area i live in knocking on doors, selling a services for painting your house roof costing £2500, which remove all agea etc. and restores them back to new ?. does anybody no of any downfalls on this products

A polite refusal should save you quite a lot of money. Never buy anything from people who canvass for business in this way.

However, it may make a difference in the immediate area, such as at the scale of individual streets.
 
theres your answer, forget painting your roof and grow carrotts on it instead :eek: .
 
Generally people offering to paint your roof for £2500 are gipsies or Cowboys-Don't.There are colourings which may be used very reluctantly,however use a roofer with a City and Guilds or Nvq as tiles that are to be painted are generally very fragile,and damage may be caused to your roof in the process.(TonyB. I'll do it for you for £2k. But you will still be wasting your money, well as fare as painting it is concerned.

Thousands and thousands of roofs in the UK are plagued with roof moss and roof algae growth. Although these organisms themselves do not cause damage to the roofing materials, they trap water which does accelerate wear and tear. If you have a problem with your roof, consult a local well known roofing company.
 
For not a great deal more money you could replace your roof. Never paint your tiles, it does absolutely nothing and if anything you will end up with more of them broken by the cowboys up there painting them.
 
Agrees with other posts about roof painting being a pointless yet expensive practice.

I have seen a few roofs where the paint/coatings have started to wash away it looks disgusting! Lots of moss and litchens growing on top of the paint too.

Came accross this site which gives some tips on how to remove and prevent roof moss growth without coatings/sealants etc
