Sick of B&Q. The wrong screws this time?

Bought kitchen doors and handles from B&Q.

Trying to screw the handles onto the doors with the screws that came with the handles.

But the screws only go half way into the handles. They simply wont screw in any further. This means half the screw is sticking out the back. Why?

The screws have blank spaces along the thread. What are these for? Am I supposed to trim them to the correct length with a hacksaw? Help!

they are universal screws for any thickness off material

yes you use a hacksaw or pliers and cut off just make shure you dont dammage the thread
pass the bolt through the timber providing theres at least 6 threads showing cut at the next space if not the space after take a note of the point you are going to cut
drill a hole thats a bit tight in a spare bit off wood
screw the bolt through and cut
do NOT grip the thread with anything metal like pliers or a vice only wood plastic or rubber
i use lock nuts but thatsa different story ;)
