painting the ply before felting

hi all just a quick question is it ok to paint the surface of the ply before it is felted a mate of mine told me it ll be ok to do has any one done this before

it would'nt do any harm!
but why would you?

You can prime it with bitumen primer, but only if pour and roll. Painting it is of no benefit whatsoever.

hi thanx for reply iv put fence paint on it the reason is the roofers are nt coming till friday and its ben spitting with rain most of the days lately so did nt want the boards to swell will it affect the felt sticking to the surface

hi just to let you know i had the roofers in today and the felt down like a dream the boss said it would nt make any difference at all if the ply is painted or not thanx for the advice guys
