I have a 2ltr fsi vw touran it has low mileage of 18000 miles,it is coming up for its fourth year service, local dealer has quoted £389 for a cam belt change and £201 on top of that for a service,in short £590 for a service,my questions are,1 is that expensive for a cam belt change? and 2 does it really need it doing being as it has only done 18000 miles in four years ?. Dont mind the £200 for the service that seems reasonsible, but cam belt price was a bit of a shock. |

Don't use the main dealer!
Find a decent independant vw specialist and try and make sure they use genuine parts |

Just had cam belt done at dealers on my Passat for £330 - they apparently have to take the front of the car apart to get to it and that's where the cost lies. |
