I want to create a retainer wall at the top corner of our garden. Sleepers are too expensive. Can anyone advise me on the use of the trunks of conifers that I am about to chop down to use! They are lining the back fence and need to come down anyway. I plan to do this today.March 21st 2009. Thanks. (Advice on anythng such as treatment, holding in place etc.)
I want to fill in the area behind it with all the hardcore rubbish around the garden then put top soil over it.

a pure guess they will last around 5 years whatever you do to them because the bark will stop any treatment penetrating!!!

That makes great sense. Thank you for the logic. It helps at a time when one tries to ignore logic in order to save money! So we will go for a slope!
Thank you.
