I am going to install a brand new shower in my bathroom. It is going where the bath used to be. I would like to know how to install shower tray. I am buying a low level tray with no upstands. I am going to tank the plasterboard walls then tile when the tray is installed. I know that the tiles have to eventually sit on the top of the tray edge then I silicon seal but do I push the shower tray so that is it flush with the plasterboard or do i push it behind the plasterboard so that it is flush against the block wall behind?

tank the walls after the tray is in place and use the trim in the tanking kit to seal to the tray. That way it will be properly waterproof and not liekly to fail like silicone.

but what about the position. do i push it up so the edge is just touching the plasterboard or do i cut the plasterboard horizontally and push it further behind so the plasterboard is overhanging?

just push it to the PB and a bead of mastic to fill the gap before tanking

What I do with baths is chip away at the plaster a little so the bath edge is behind the rest of the wall, then I gripfill this in snug, then tile over it. I'd use a similar technique to the shower tray too...
