over the last few days, my clutch seems to be getting heavier with a discernable "clunk" about 1/2 way down, this spring type (if that makes sense) clunk seems to be coming from either just inside the housing, or from under the rubber gaitor just outside.

it does it whether the engine is running or not if it makes a difference.

is there somthing that needs a bit of lubrication (dont want to start spraying into the housing if oil will get where it shouldnt) of do I need to start saving?

Oh, the car is the 90HDI with just over 95K on it (53 plate)

It's *probably* hydraulic, and *could* be the slave cylinder playing up.

OK, thought id let you know, the "clunk" was the release bearing starting to play up.
It gave up alltogether on saturday.

Oh and it would be a hard clutch to change, all the linkages are on the inside.

and yes, you were right neo it is hydraulic, just not a very light one.
