We have had this boiler fitted for about 18 months now and (touch wood) it seems to be running well. Except for the fact that when the boiler is on but no domestic hot water or central heating required, in other words when "0" is in the display, it will suddenly kick into life and the letter "t" will be displayed, the burner will light for 20 seconds then go back to "0". It does this several times during the day and also through the night, which is quite annoying.

My question is...

Is this normal for this boiler or is there an explanation and should I get the engineers back?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Its meant to do it. However if it really is too much to bare then a kit is available to disable it.

Diverter could be passing as well allowing the preheated DHW to seep down the the CH causing preheat activation to frequently - the preheat will kick in when the thermistor sees less than 30degrees in the plate and preheat to 65degrees.

Doesnt need to be a dripping tap tho.... could be a leak on the hot supply....

Check for plate heat exchanger O ring leaks which is yet another old fave fault, the amount of built in Isars in nearly new houses we go to where the leak goes down the back of units or behind trim out of sight after falling off the bottom cover plate is unbelievable. It simulates the dripping tap thing and up pops the 't' every few minutes to preheat . No pressure loss from heating side usually.
