Hi, moved in to a new house a bought a one touch remote dimmer for the living room. When i opened the existing switch two wires(brown) are connected to the common port and one wire(brown) to the L1. I just kept the two wires togeter in the new switch too connecting them both to the common again. Is this correct? It wont blow up or anything will it? The New Switch seems to be working fiine for now.

Were the cables "singles". I.e. they weren't sheathed in grey or white plastic?
I'd guess they were either running two lights off the switch or they have looped the supply via the switch. In either case there is nothing wrong with this arrangement. You should also have an earth wire (unless they have used galvanised conduit).
If you wired the same way there should not be a problem. If the face plate is metal though you will need an earth.

sounds fine....galv conduit - ehh.....
sounds like a normal house, wired in twin and earth, and in the nice new colours. I expect the blues are in a terminal block in the back of the box.
