Does inline Scalemaster reduce water flow?

I've just had a Scalemaster Magnetic Gold fitted and my water flow in the shower seems to be not as good as it was. Is this due to the water flow being slowed down when passing through the inhibitor into the boiler? Does the water actually pass through anything? I'm not sure what's inside the actual thing!
