Hi

I'm making a concrete type slab to replace the current chimney capping slab that has broken. I have been told to use grano tech but can't seem to find much information about it or where to buy it from.

Can anyone give me any info on what it is and why is it better than normal concrete mix?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, but I'd already found this info - appears it's the only info I can find.

Don't want to take the chimney down as we have just finished building an extn and it is going to be a lot easier to just replace the original capping while the scaffolding is still up.

What benefit will it be to use this rather than just a normal concrete mix?

In my opinion if you have a scaffold up already then it is false economy to leave the chimney stack up if you are never going to use it again. Even if you repair it now who's to say in 5 years it wont need more maintenence? Take it down and patch the roof over - it will take less than a day.
As for 'grano tech' it looks like an epoxy mortar system, there are lots on the market and will (hopefully) be stronger and last longer than ordinary mortar. Have you enquired into shipping costs bringing it over from he states?
There is a company called 'Watco' which do similar products on this side of the water.
