Hi

Just had some ready mix concrete put in place.

The job ticket listed the following info :

3.25 cubic metres of foundation concrete ( Grade ST2 S3 ).

926 kgs of cement
3033 kgs of sand
3723 kgs of stone
337 kgs of water

Can anyone tell me how to determine what ratio this is ?

I have read that ST2 is C20N which is 4:2:1 ?

What does the S3 part mean - is this the slump by any chance ?

Cheers.

Self Builder,

New european way of defining slump ( or flow if using piling concrete )
S1 = 0 - 70mm, S2 = 30 - 120mm, S3 = 80 - 180mm, S4 = 140 - 240mm and S5 = 200mm+. These ranges are for spot samples taken on site in accordance with BS EN 12350-2.

ST2 is the equivalent to the old C10 mix

The mix ratios that you have are approx 3.7 : 3.0 : 0.9. give-or-take

As above ST2 is the old C10 or 1:3:6, so your mix is a bit stronger than that as it's nearer 1:2:4

Cheers Denso13

By any chance could you tell me what ST3 and ST4 used to be together with their ratios.

Much appreciated. :D
