I have a vokera 20/80 flowmatic combi. The heating is working fine but i cannot get hot water. The system was drained recently to allow changing of a radiator. This may not have helped the problem but it cannot be the cause as it was playing up before this. Hope i can sort this one out before xmas dishes need doing....thanks

Hi there

A bit of an odd question, but did you get your problem sorted, I read your post and I seem to have exactly the same problem with the same circumstances as you were having back in Decamber.

Can you let me know what happened, I seem to think its some sort of air lock in the boiler.

Many thanks

Deane

deanelyons,

been living away since xmas. problem not sorted. think it is common problem with this type/age of boiler. I'm told it is a simple thing to fix but not got time... micro switch/diaphragm part replacement. I have the manual for this boiler as PDF if you want to try DIY. When I eventually get a fix (next few weeks, I will post more info - to you)

regards

skoosh

On this boiler it may well be the perforated diaphragm that is causing HW malfunction, but I feel it will be due to several other reasons all terminating at lack of proper service. To remote diagnose the boiler is difficult.

Be warned connections in the boiler are at 240 volts, and will bite if you accidentaly touch them (which could happen during the working process). Good boiler. I hope it does not get ripped off the wall to be replaced with a Ferrolli or a Biasi or a Ravenheat.

I have a Vokera Excell 80 SP. It may not be the same problem, but with mine, a lot of faults are attributed to lack of a porper service, which apparently for one thing means the diaphragms have not been annually replaced as a matter of course. Yet, I just had a service and this ain't been done, go figure.

As brand new in mine, the diaphragms fitted rotted when immersed in water, according to a particularly frank expert on Vokera boilers at the time. It went faulty in less than 3 months, and was repaired under warranty.

Note, the only time I ever got good service or repair on this boiler is when an actual Vokera Engineer attended - the rest of the time, with several different CORGI-registered plumbers, it's been loads of new parts, 80% of which turn out to be unnecessary, and a fix may or may not have been effected.

While agree with previous poster regards most of what he says, I have to disagree WRT independent engineers. You need a heating engineer who (if he takes pride in his work) should be adept at using a multimeter just as well as a 'U' gauge to diagnose the defect to a failed component. A plumber specialises in art of plumbing and is unlikely to be savey about things electrical and electronic,

One boiler is hardly much different from another in that it has to go through a sequence to end up heating water. I myself would hate to change a clutch of components to locate a defect. Vokera I like and carry out faults and service on regularly. Most defects on the Flowmatics and Excels (except melted diaphrams) are service related

I've got hot water or central heating just now!

I am looking for a instruction manual for this boiler, and any recommendations for plumbers in the Glasgowe area.

I am in Glasgow area. Carry most often needed parts when I do the repairs. All work is is carried out with cliant present (so you see what is being done).
