I have recently bought a ceramc floor lamp lit by a 150 watt halogen bulb. The light seems very white and cold compared to a nearby 60 watt tungsten lamp. Is there any way of gaining warmer lighting from the ceramic lamp?

you would need a photographic colour correction filter. 85B looks the best (it is an orange filter) trouble is they are fairly cheap for a camera because they are not designed to get hot you would need a colour correction gel which are usually available on a roll (they are designed for lights so can withstand heat) they are somewhat expensive.

Why not fit a dimmer switch to the lamp and dim it very slightly?

many thanks! Dimming doesn't help suficiently.

The lamp itself takes the form of an enclosed globe, so the heat build up must be quite fearsome. Can I presume that the filter will be a sort of drum that surrounds the bulb?

Any suggestion re sourcing for filter?
