Unfortunately, some cement has got trapped behind the switch securing screws which make fitting new screws impossible.

Is there a thread tap (3.5mm) availabe that can be used to clean up the the threaded ears inside a light switch or 13Amp socket wall box.

Yes, they're quite widely available. For example here.

Scrape off as much of the cement as you can from the lug first before using the rethreader.

Thanks for the tip on using Re Threaders. Not sure whether the threads are 3.5 or 4.0mm ?

The wall boxes for lights and 13 Amp plug are about 18 yrs old. Which thread are they lible to be?

Thanks

Unless they are really old, the threads will be M3.5

If the boxes are imperial, they will be threaded to 4BA, but these can be rethreaded to M3.5 to take the new screws supplied with accesories.
