We've just dry-lined the walls of our cottage and fitted Celotex in between the battens.

I notice that Celotex and others produce a range of aluminium foil 'thermal tape', which it's suggested should be used to tape over any joints in foil-backed-insulation such as the Celotex boards (presumably in our case where each Celotex board meets a batten).

Do people think this is worth doing?

Thanks,

Steve

If you have a polythene membrane behind your plasterboard, it's probably not worth it.
The risk is moisture from the house getting through the plasterboard and into a cold spot in the cavity and condensing.
If your gaps are large, they will also allow cold air to the back of your plasterboard, which in turn could form a cold surface for condensation to form on, so I would fill them.
The lumberjack polyurethane adhesive is quite good for this as it expands slightly to fill the gaps.
The alternative is a proper polyurethane foam gun, which you can set to a very fine bead, but you need the gun, solvent and enough gap filling to warrant the expense.
