Has anybody had any experience with a citreon picasso 2.0 hdi engine (diesel),having intermittent non start/cutting out fault. Changed the fuel pump in the tank about 2 months ago, run fine. But has now decided to not start /cut out again. Towed home by AA, who couldnot get it going, but left with no low fuel pressure, fault code.Checked out the fuel system appeared to be no fuel from tank to filter(pump not working?) fiddle around with electrics in engine bay, checked out fuel filter,it started ,no problems,no warning lights on.Since it has cut out and restarted intermittently on several occasions. Is there a fuel pump relay fitted ? i suspect the fuel pump is losing its feed. Any help appreciated. |

a friends peugeot with this engine has a similar problem but his struggles to start, there is a pressure valve on the fuel system in the engine bay somewhere that plays up. Hes taken it to a local diesel specialist this week so i will ask him what they found |

You might find it might be what i call a multifunction relay, which is normally brown in colour and is located under the bonnet on either flitch. It slots in to a black plug with a red locking device. When it fails to start try giving the relay a tap and see if it starts. |

Thanks for your help. I replaced the engine management double relay cost £12, around three weeks ago (1000miles approx), no fault , touch wood! . So if you experience a similar fault, for the cost of the relay i would try this,it a 2 minute job. |

Hi the relay is located on the right hand bulk head , is brown in colour
.
and cost about 12 quid.
Have you checked if your fuel pump(in fuel tank) is running ok, with ignition switched on you can hear you fuel pump run for a few seconds and the filter housing pressurise. You could also disconnect the fuel filter inlet pipe then switch on ignition fuel should flow from pipe(stick a bag over end to catch fuel),if not tap bottom of fuel tank to get pump going this is a very common faut with hdi engines, the pump wears and metal filelings contaminate the filter. |

I cant see a brown relay or any relay on my bulk head, the pump runs until the engine cuts out then you cant hear it running, unless you leave it a few minutes then try it again,it does sound a bit squeeky when running, otherwise you just hear it clicking. |
