I have a mixer shower installed. This is the second one I've had, the last one suffering from the same problem as this one - namely, it drips and dribbles unless I tighten it closed so hard that my wife can't turn the shower on again.

The first one was replaced under warranty, but this one is now outside the warranty period.

As you'll see from the picture, I have taken off the front cover. Assuming there's a washer replacement required deep within, can I go further, armed with suitable tools, to rectify the problem, or are they "sealed" units?

Cant for the life of me recall the name of the shower, but I'm wanting to say "Ambassador". Could be wrong though. Can dig out paperwork this eve if its important.

Agree, even if you can't get the service kit it might still be worth opening it up to check washer/o rings etc.

It might even be an option to replace the whole unit, check to see if the pipe cntres are 150mm.................

wow u guys are great.

If I take off the next layer (by removing the split washer thingy (!)) will it all come to bits easily? I'll turn off the water before then!

Is it likely to be a simple rubber O ring back there somewhere? I'd like to see an exploded view before I started if anyone has one.

thanks so much

i'm only going on what the op told us Ambassador.

Gainsborough is the only Ambassador i can think off.
and as you say don'y match up.

My proffesional opinion is to replace the entire unit, this is the second identical shower, both have been problematic. Replace it with a recognised brand name, Mira, Trevi, Grohe, Aqualisa etc.

These service kits can often be a waste of time for a charging plumber to use as it isn't ever a guaranteed fix, as it's your own shower then still might be wrth servicing but it might be a waste of time

Sorry for the confusion. It was described as a Gainsborough by the place that sold it to me, but I now have the paperwork and its is one of these

£20 for a few washers? Rip-off Britain?

Anyway, it looks and sounds like a) its a tricky job and b) its a carp shower anyway. Wasn't cheap, mind.

The manual I have found says a max of 145mm between inlet centres.... is that a strange size? the pipes dont have much play at all as I recall.

Thanks to all for the help. Will take off the offending article and see what play there is in the pipes.
