Helping a friend with replacement wc. We are trying to connect pan to soil pipe in floor, but using this pipe the toilet is sitting about 7 inches away from wall. (Have used a McAlpine swan neck, but too tall) He says there is an above ground soil pipe the other side of the rear wall (behind wc) Is he allowed to knock a hole through this wall and connect to the outside waste pipe, so then the wc will sit against the wall rather than 7 inches away from it! Thanks in advance.

If there is an opportunity to go through the wall then this would be simpler in terms of pan connection.

What he needs to do is expose the pipe and determine whether the foul waste will have an uninterrupted flow, preferably direct to an inspection chamber.

Should the pipe encounter the odd bend then it may be necessary to fit a rodding eye to the run.

If you fit a short stub stack on the outside wall you can then fit the basin waste into the stub stack, or fit a pan connector with a 32mm spigot but i have a feeling these are only available with 90 degree pan connectors.

Don't forget an extractor fan as well as the wash basin plus building control may want a squint.

Some good pointers there. No basin in there so haven't got a problem there (Not very hygenic, kitchen sink other side of wall!) Will look into the work involved. Thanks.

Thanks for that. He is actually moving abroad in approx a years time, I may tell him to leave things as they are for the time being, making do with the toilet as it is, Whoever moves in next may probably re-design the kitchen with the attached small room with WC, using builder etc etc and get it all done properly. Thanks again.
