Hi,

I bought one of these wall valve fixing kits http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/surefix-150mm-wall-valve-0000-17809

I've got it all installed, however the threaded joint between one of the elbows and the valve mount keeps leaking.

I've checked the threads for debris/damage, tried various amounts of ptfe but it still leaks very slighty.

Really frustrating as it's the last thing i need to fix before I can finish off the plumbing part of this project.

Any ideas what to do?

Try "Loctite 55" string.

If it's a chrome thread roughen it up a little with a hacksaw blade, dragged over the threads, to stop the tape slipping.

Are you sure the fitting isn't split, and opens up when you screw it together.

the elbow (i assume) is copper, but the mount is chromed.

i'll take the elbow off and inspect fully but i'm 99% sure it's fine.

i'll try your sugegstions, thanks.

i roughed up the thread a little and it still leaked.

managed to fix it though in the end.

whereas i was cleaning off all the ptfe and reapplying each time, i just unscrewed it, added another couple of turns of ptfe then screwed it in, repeated this again and it didn't leak.

it seems like i have used too much ptfe on it but hopefully it will be ok.
