Hi,
1st question on this forum but not likely to be the last. :)

I was just wondering if a 15 metre run of 6mm twin and earth cable would be sufficient enough to power a 8.5 KW shower or would I need to upgrade the cable to 10mm for this?

Thanks in advance

That would depend ont the method of installation.
If the cable runs through insulation, it might be a problem.

It should be fine as long as it isn't covered in thermal insulation or running with other similar circuits for any distance or running through a high ambient temperature or protected by a re-wirable fuse or any combination of the above

Thanks for the quick replies.

The cable does run over the top of some insulation (over top of joists) but not through it and is running by itself apart from the drop to the consumer unit.

The run probably isn't 15 metres but just a rough guess on the generous side and is protected by seperate RCD unit.

Could you run the cable so it is not touching the insulation at all?
