The back pointing of the slates is all falling out.
Should I repoint this with lime cement ? or is there a better product to use ?
If it has to be lime cement can anyone suggest the required mix ?

Yup......

Applying torching is laborious and tedious. If you can stand it then go ahead, fill ya boots. It used to be a mixture of horse hair, lime and sand -no cement.

My job can be laborious and tedious at times but I just get on with it.
Whats the best way ?

Try a small area first with the horse hair mix, dont press it to hard at the battens, wet the back of the slate with water to help it stick.Might be able to use something other than horse hair.
