Hi all --- I've tried searching the posts but can't find answer to my question.

Am putting in a new electric shower, distance to CU is 5m and am using 10mm cable within conduit --- I was going to put in designated shower CU 63A 30mA DP RCD (cost £40+) but then thought can I just use a DP RCD 30mA-63A on a spare way on my mains CU (cost £15)

Both items look same to me --- am I missing something re the first unit or am I ok with just installing required rating RCD into my mains CU.

I am also putting in shower FCU outside of bathroom.

Any help appreciated.

You need an MCB as well as an RCD

What is the rating of the shower?

or possibly an rcbo if it will fit in cu.

you won't be using an fcu. you need a 45/50 A double pole switch, either wall switch outside or ceiling switch inside.

What's the load?

Your conduit will reduce the CCC of the cable considerably.

EDIT: Oh, hang on, scrap that!

10mm² in conduit is 52A......
