Hi all, first post for me on the forum tho have browsed loads of times and found it helpful.
I am building a single stoy rear extension with a monopitched (lean-to) roof. Would like to have it open vaulted inside and am wondering how best to fix the top end of the rafters to the wall of the house. There is a 4.4m clear span and the brickie is worried about the rafters 'spreading' the new outside walls. What sort of fixing arrangement do I need on the wall of the house to prevent this?
Hope the description makes sense, any advice appreciated.
Cheers, Ad

he should fix a timber plate to the existing wall and notch the rafters over that and screw the rafter to the plate.
