We want to remove our fireplace to move it into the lounge. Ideally I want to get it out with minimal damage to the wall and the fireplace. I can't find any obvious fixings. I have attached a picture. Any idea where I might start looking or hammering?

could well be a couple of fixing brackets on each side screwed into the back of the fire surround and then screwed into the masonary and plastered over.
just one option of poss fixing.no set height for this type of fixing but probably around a quarter way up and a quarter way down.like i say,no hard and fast height.

The exact same mantel piece was glued to the wall in my place. Needless to say I completely gutted the house before moving in so it was great fun ripping it off the wall.

Just a shame have the wall came off with it.
