Hello to all.
Removed a few walls and replaced them with steel beams.
All with planning permission etc.
I've notched the joists and set them in the beams.
There's about 6mm of joist below the beams.
I'm concerned that once I plasterboard over them, the beams may cause a cold spot and perhaps show through.
Outside walls upstairs are built on them.
Any suggestions as to how to insulate this small gap, or am I worrying for nothing.
Thanks.

Have you thought of boarding with thermaline?
but if the RSJ is not cold now, likely it never will so don't see wht you should need to.

Foam? Bubblewrap? Might want to pack some mineral wool against the web of the steel between each joist. Not cavity walls are they? If so were cavity trays used?

Never heard of Thermaline, but will look for it.
As for being cold now ... never checked. I just assumed.
I WILL check though.

Yes, I have insulated between webs.
They are cavity walls, and they do have trays.

Thermaline/bubble wrap seem to be the options.
You both seem to know what you're talking about, so one or other should be the answer.
If I knew, I wouldn't have asked, so thanks to both of you.

Checked those links.
Seems I do know what it is, but under different products.
The problem with that solution is, it's an old cottage.
I've had to level the floors by 3 inches of screed.
Then I'm putting 2 inches of Celotex down plus a floating floor.
The ceilings were low to start with, and I don't really want to lose more height by using more insulation that will lower the ceiling.
Thanks for all your replies.
John. :)
