I believe this machine is a rebadged or at least made by Electrolux (owners of Zanussi, AEG, Tricity Bendix, + more)

Common appliance problems no.

6) Sounds like "aircraft taking off" on spin

If you can move stainless steel drum up and down then the bearings have gone. The bearings have worn through old age or you have constantly been overloading the drum.

If you spin the drum by hand and it makes a "grinding noise" your bearings are on their way out.

Dear Leccy758

Many thaks for your reply, is replacing the bearings an easy job or does need a bit of experience to replace them?

can be done , but is not a simple fix
if you are semi useful with a toolkit then you will probably be ok if you take each step methodically and carefully

usually involves taking all the components out
the drum then needs lifting out & splitting
bearings usually need heat to remove
new ones put in the freezer and install whilst very cold
well thats what i do , many experienced bods on here who will offer good advice too

If it is a split case machine they are not too bad to do, done a few recently takes me about 2 hours.

Can be a bit worrying when drifting out the old bearings but not too difficult.

if you do decide to change the bearings, buy a bearing puller, will save alot of time and they are not too expensive if you go to the right place (cromwell tools or your local tool shop)
