if it's the same one, then we've had it posted before about 9 months ago..
but on behalf of those who missed it first time round, thanks for pointing it out..

still see the folding back as a problem though..

it has an earth shown on the video..

the folding flaps is the biggest design flaw.. they are not locked in position by the rotating action or anything so you can simply not bother folding them out and still plug the plug in..

oh no, it'll never be a retrofit thing.. strictly a moulded in place affair..
they'll just crimp or solder the wires to the brass bits inside..

Shame they couldn't get the colours right for live and neutral!

See the video at 1:27

I also believe that this product has yet to meet and therefore be granted a BSI approval (and therefore an EU approval). It is not therefore yet able to be lawfully sold in the UK or EU.

I understand that they are working towards this approval and it may obtain a "pass" sometime in 2011.

The problem they will have to over come is making an adequate and reliable contact between the fixed termination at the ends of the live and neutral wires and the heads of the movable pins.

As they intend it to be usable in both open and closed mode these contacts are going to be some form of concentric and quarter turn rotatable joints.

Achieving a 3mm clearance between live and neutral and substantial thickness of metal in the contact will be difficult in the 1 cm thickness claimed for the device. The moving joint will be before the fuse so any failure in the rotating joint that creates a live to neutral short will have to carry the trip current of the MCB long enough for the MCB to operate.

That hazard could be reduced by a 13 amp weak link in the live pin.
