Is it possible to replace a socket with a switch ?

Hi,

Is it possible to replace a socket with a switch ?

I have an outdoor IP44 socket that is wired to the house mains. I would like it if possible to convert this socket to a switch for the purpose of powering a pond pump.

This would in theory provide a better outdoor solution for the pump.

You could change it for a switched fused spur!
