Hello,

I have a 5 year old Baxi back boiler that occasionally won't fire up.

When heat is called for the electric igniter clicks away and normally the boiler fires in to life within 2-3 clicks. However occasionally it tries to fire up three times (clicks for approximately 30 seconds then pause before trying again) and locks out. Once locked out, after a reset it will then normally fire up within a few clicks.

Any suggestions as to the cause of the fault would be appreciated.

It needs a service it is fluff in a certain air hole that is designed to stop boiler firing

Because pre-2009 back boilers are conventional flue appliances and need an external air vent to the outside, its very important that they are serviced each year to enable them to work safely.

It sounds as if this is another case of the boiler never having a service during the five years since it was installed.
