hotpoint wd420 wont start after a while door light flashes

i have a hotpoint wd420 it was working fine till yesterday ,,, when it stopped halfway through a wash and the door light flashes... i started it again the door locked as it should press start the lights illuminated as it should and nothing happend then after a while the door light started flashing,,, any ideas would apreciated

I found this site really useful - My WD 420 packed up, after watching the blogs I did:1) remove filter - found 2 quid, a thong, a pop sock, a christmas cracker toy and a load of gunge. 2) removed the motor - brushes worn to nothing - replaced them.
Washer running as new. 6 years old, 2 house moves - not bad reliability. Nearly gave up and bought a new machine!! Nice to be able to have the benefit of other peoples fixes - So much gets thrown away these days for no reason other than that it costs so much to call out an "engineer"
