Is it permitted to have two lighting circuits present at one two gang light switch? One gang is for downstairs hall lights and the other gang is the downstairs swich for the upstairs lights (two way). Because the upstairs and downstairs lights are on different circuits, there are two separate 'lives' present at the one switch unit which means that it can't be killed by one mcb. What do the regs say about this?

no problem.. the "single point of isolation" is the main switch in the CU..

might be worth leaving a note on the back of the switches that they are 2 different circuits for your own reminder..
