 Hi

The new shower will running off mains water via combi boiler.

These new slim line shower trays look nice and they boast: Rapid Draining Capability of 54 litres per minute using Turbo Shower Waste - do these really move more water?

The trays are so thin, it doesn't look like they can handle it.

I ask because I do not want to install it and find like I did with a pumped power shower a few years back, that the tray is not up to the job, and could not get rid of the water quick enough.

Many thanks.

Stephen

What sort of output do you expect from your boiler?

A free flowing waste fitting is good, but the length and diameter of the waste pipe, the number of bends and the amount of fall along the pipe run probably have more influence on the maximum flow rate than the design of the waste fitting and trap.

The maximum flow through a trap teed directly into a vertical 100mm soil pipe will obviously be better than a waste pipe with about 5 Metres of 40mm pipe, a tee for the basin waste, four knuckle bends and an overall fall of about 20mm, which is how many installations seem to end up.

Thanks TicklyT.

The shower used to be over the bath - so the boiler is up to the job.

I see what you mean about a long waste and bends etc.

I'll ponder on that for a while - and see if I can get a deeper tray, which gives you some leeway, even if you have to paddle for a while.

if you do feel like it might not work i always like to drop the waste pipe down as soon as it comes of out the trap as i find it can help speed the water up from slimline trays but shorter runs are better
