Cold Radiator Next to Boiler

Hello,

I am experiencing a problem with a cold radiator next to the boiler.

All the other radiators heat up fine. If I switch all the others off and leave just the faulty radiator on it still doesn't heat up.

It is possible to get warm water following through it by turing the other radiators off and opening the bleed valve to let the water flow through.

The boiler is a Poterton Prima B and this system is the type with a water tank in the loft and a water store in the main bedroom.

Any help would ge grately appreciated.

Blockage?

Take it off and flush.

Stuck TRV? Try tapping the pin to free it.

Thanks for the advice

I tried the TRV and it moves in and out fine. Could the valve itself be faulty?

I also noticed the pipe leading up to the TRV is cold, if this is of any help.

Would I need to flush the whole system or just the one radiator to see if that's the cause?

It sounds to me like the system hasn't been balanced properly, or has become unbalanced.
1. turn all of the lockshield valves off (the non trv valve on the radiators) and the central heating on
2. go to the furthest radiator from the boiler and open the valve slightly until the flow or return pipe to the rad gets warm
3. work your way back to the boiler, doing the same with each rad
4. problem solved

Is it an exsisting rad? Is it a new rad? Has it ever worked?

My quid's still on a stuck thermostatic rad valve. REMOVE the head (usually a ring you unscrew) and look at the pin in the middle. It should spring up and down 3mm or more. If it doesn't you can try tapping the valve etc, or wiggling the pin with pliers. Don't pull the pin out though.
