Hi there,

I am absolutely clueless and really need your help please.

We had a new basin installed last year that has a push top waste. It's not draining properly at all (the basin fills up completely just whilst running water) so I would be extremely grateful if someone could be so kind as to explain to me how to get the top off to fix it. Does it just unscrew or what?

Thanks!

check the waste trap under the basin.
thats more likely where the block is.

Waste has an adjustable screw, the length of which dictates the height of the pop-up.

Some are designed so they cannot be removed from above before removal of the operating lever from below at rear of waste under the sink, you will need to remove the small cap around where the lever enters the waste if yours is the captive waste type.

You should then be able to remove the pop-up and adjust the screw length.

Always remember they are designed to be pushed only, push to shut , push lever to open, pulling the lever is often what causes damage to the mechanism.

do you mean a pop up waste, with a lever incorporated in the tap, or a pop up waste, where you push the plug on a spring to close / open it?
