Our washer dryer has suddenly started making an alarming noise during a spin. If I spin the drum by hand clockwise it moves freely, anti clockwise, it "knocks".

If anyone can suggest anything I'd be grateful. The machine is approx 4 years old.

sounds like something jammed between the inner and outer drums, you may be able to get at "it" by removing the pump or heater. thats all i can say really

It is also worthwhile feeling round all the holes in the drum as I've known a nail to drop through a hole and be hanging from its head.
